We live in a time that is unstable and uncertain. Sometimes, our tendency is to let fear rule our hearts and minds. On this morning, we read from Psalm 46 and let the Lord speak to our hearts and strengthen us for the days ahead.

Continuing in the book of Mark, we read and study Mark 12:12-34.

Our Foursquare district supervisor, Gabe Barreiro, reads from Luke 24:13-35 and offers wisdom and insight for when life turns out unexpectedly. 

To begin this new fall season, we take time to reflect on what Communion means, remember what God has said to each of us and renew ourselves in all that is proclaimed in the taking of Communion.

Kathy Rice reads and reflects on the Beatitudes in Matthew 5:1-10.

There are a lot of reasons we struggle within households and with our family relationships. In a society that drives us apart, how can we be better parents and spouses? Pastor Steve reads from Colossians 3 and makes note of three principles from this passage that show the apostolic vision for family life. 

Continuing our series in Genesis, Aaron Friesen reads and examines Genesis 11-12.

Even though we are infinitely loved, accepted and forgiven, filled with the Spirit, with God near to us, our natural desires are still disordered and our perception of God, ourselves, and others is still distorted. We must go on a journey to reorder our interior and exterior life. But it is a struggle! How can we develop new patterns of thinking and living? We look to the scriptures in Colossians 3:1-17.

In preparation to take communion on this Ash Wednesday, we read together the temptation of Jesus in the wilderness.

Genesis Series #3

“Cain and Abel”

Genesis 4:1-16

Whether we are new, or a "re-new" Christian, as we think about building our lives in this new time, what might an Apostle say to us? What kind of direction might he give? We look to the scriptures in Colossians 1:1-14.

On this evening, AJ Swoboda, founding pastor of Theophilus Church in Portland, reads from Psalm 22 and talks about what we do when we face a time of darkness.

Pastor Steve offers some beginning pointers from the Christian Scriptures to a healthier spirit, soul and body.

We begin a journey through Genesis. Genesis is not always the easiest book to understand, but the invitation isn’t to a journey of perfect understanding, it’s an invitation to go on a journey with a faithful and patient God who is creating, leading, correcting, promising and always walking with us.

Steve Overman reads from Isaiah 6:1-13, recounting the scripture when Isaiah was called to be a prophet. From this passage we see three things that Isaiah realized that changed his life, so that he could experience goodness and could be a resource to those around him, and we are reminded that this is God's promise for us today and for this new year.

Our world today is full of tragedy, but the Bible shows us that throughout all of time people have experienced pain, suffering, tragedy and loss. On this evening, we are reminded that we can have hope because we have a Helper and stand firm in the truth of Jesus.
